Respiratory History

 Respiratory signs and symptoms:

  • SOB, now and at baseline.
  • Cough
  • Sputum with cough. Ask about colour and quantity in a day: teaspoon, tablespoon, egg cup, or tea cup?
  • Haemoptysis
  • Wheeze or stridor.
  • Chest pain.

Non-respiratory signs and symptoms:

  • Weight loss: lung cancer, TB.
  • Fever
  • Leg pain and dizziness (PE).

Risk factors:

  • Smoking
  • Work e.g. asbestos, silica.
  • Pets: atopy.
  • Birds: hypersensitivity.
